How the exam is structured
The assessment is an 80-mark board theory paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment across the year (periodic tests, portfolio, and practical work). The syllabus: five NCERT units

- World of Living (Biology): life processes, control and coordination, reproduction, heredity.
- Natural Phenomena (Physics): light — reflection and refraction, the human eye.

Strategy by branch
- Physics: master the two numerical families — light (mirror/lens formula, refraction) and electricity (Ohm's law, series-parallel, heating effect). Ray diagrams and circuit diagrams are pure practice marks; draw them until they are automatic.
- Chemistry: maintain a running reactions notebook — every equation, balanced, with conditions — because the paper tests reactions in application form, not as definitions.
- Biology: answer in NCERT's own phrasing. Board marking rewards the textbook's terminology, and well-labelled diagrams (nephron, flower, reflex arc) convert directly into marks.
The final-term plan
- 8-10 weeks out: begin timed CBSE sample papers, alternating with chapter-wise tests on your weakest unit per branch.
- Keep an error log by branch — most students discover their losses concentrate in one branch's question style, not across the subject.
- Last month: NCERT re-read for Biology and Chemistry (including in-text and back-exercise questions), numericals-only drilling for Physics.
