DELE Exam in India 2026–27: Dates, Fees, Levels, Centres and Format

Already registered, missed the deadline, or planning 2027?

The global 2027 registration opening is 18 November 2026. A worldwide date is a planning reference, not confirmation of a seat in India. The India date-and-fee table was rechecked on 2 October 2026; the published November registration deadline remains 30 September. Confirm fees and centre arrangements before any transaction.

Make a four-date plan before buying preparation

If reading feels comfortable but you cannot complete the writing task independently, record that difference. A single overall self-rating can hide the skill that needs feedback. Keep the completed script and a short speaking sample for a teacher discussion. Use the official task instructions and rating guidance; an informal practice result does not certify a level.

A useful preparation request says: required level, preferred confirmed sitting, recipient deadline, recent model attempted and two specific difficulties. This lets the teaching conversation focus on evidence rather than a generic promise to become exam-ready in a fixed number of weeks.

November 2026 India sitting: registration is closed

The registration deadline for the 13–14 November 2026 India sitting was 30 September 2026 and has now passed. Instituto Cervantes does not accept registration after a sitting's deadline. Candidates who registered should confirm the oral-test date, reporting time, identity documents and venue directly with their examination centre because oral tests may take place before or after the written date.

Official DELE exam dates for 2027

Instituto Cervantes has published the worldwide 2027 written-exam calendar and says registration opens on 18 November 2026. The dates below are worldwide convocations, not a promise that every India centre will offer every sitting or level. Check the Instituto Cervantes New Delhi page and contact the chosen authorised centre once its local 2027 schedule is available.

Minimum DELE exam fees in India for 2026

Instituto Cervantes New Delhi publishes the following minimum India fees for 2026. The official page states that examination centres may charge higher amounts, so ask the selected centre for the final payable fee and payment method before transferring money.

DELE levels: which one do you need?

General DELE exams follow the CEFR scale from A1 to C2. Young-learner exams include A1, A2/B1 and B2/C1. Choose the exam explicitly named by the institution or process that will receive the result; TutorMax cannot determine an immigration, citizenship or admission requirement on the recipient's behalf.

• A1–A2: basic user levels for familiar, everyday communication.
• B1–B2: independent user levels requiring progressively stronger comprehension, interaction and extended responses.
• C1–C2: proficient user levels with integrated, precise and flexible language use.
• Young learners: use the school-age exam only when the candidate meets the official eligibility and the receiving institution accepts that diploma.

DELE exam format and pass rules

For general DELE A1–B2, four skill papers contribute 25 points each. C1 also totals 100 points but uses mediation and language-use tasks within its papers. For A1–C1, the papers form two scoring groups and the candidate needs at least 30 points in each group. C2 is different: it has three integrated tests and requires at least 20 points in every test.

Where can you take DELE in India?

The official 2026 India centre directory lists New Delhi and authorised centres in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mussoorie and Mumbai. A city appearing in the directory does not mean every session or level is available there. For the November dates, use the session table above and confirm directly with the selected centre.

How to register in India

Registration and payment are handled by the chosen examination centre. Instituto Cervantes New Delhi says candidates must provide the completed registration form, a current identity-document copy and the exam fee. Accepted identity examples on its page include a passport, voter card, PAN card, Aadhaar card or driving licence. Young-learner registrations require additional parent or legal-guardian authorization and identification.

Written examinations in New Delhi begin at 9:00 a.m., with candidates required at 8:30 a.m. for document checks and instructions. Oral tests may take place before or after the written date. Other centres can issue their own reporting and payment instructions, so follow the confirmation sent by the centre rather than assuming the New Delhi process applies everywhere.

Build a preparation plan from evidence

There is no reliable universal promise that a learner will be ready in a fixed number of weeks. The starting level, target exam, available study time and performance in each skill change the plan. Begin with a level-specific diagnostic using an official model paper, then work backwards from the registration and exam dates.

• Confirm the target exam and level with the receiving institution.
• Score a timed diagnostic by skill and by the correct A1–C1 or C2 pass rule.
• Prioritise the weakest scoring group or C2 test while maintaining the others.
• Practise speaking and writing with feedback tied to the official task and rating criteria.
• Use complete timed mock cycles only after the task formats are familiar, then correct every lost mark before the next mock.

DELE vs SIELE: validity and purpose

A DELE diploma certifies a passed CEFR level and does not expire. SIELE reports a numerical score related to CEFR performance and offers a digital certificate or report that is valid for five years. SIELE can be faster and more flexible, but it is not a non-expiring substitute for DELE.

Choose the assessment explicitly accepted by the university, employer or official process involved. Recognition rules belong to the receiving organization and can change; verify them before paying for either exam.
